THERMOFORMING TEAM LEAD (Garden Grove, CA)
McConkey has an opening for the role of Production Team Leader for its thermoforming lines. The Team Leader will be responsible for foremen and teams on all three shifts. McConkey thermoforms primarily polypropylene and rPET containers.
Successful candidates will bring a strong technical understanding of thermoforming, as well as excellent team leadership abilities, both in managing foremen, operators and packers, and in working collaboratively with our extrusion and maintenance teams to constructively solve problems and enhance the plant’s performance.
The role will report directly to the VP of Manufacturing.
Job duties:
• Responsible for successful operation of five thermoforming lines producing a variety of flower pots and packs for the horticulture industry
• Lead one shift in capacity of a lead foreman as well as manage foreman (shift supervisors) and production staff for the other two shifts by providing continuous feedback & hands on training
• Responsible for improving performance of thermoforming lines through coordination between extrusion, maintenance, and production planning teams
• Provide continuous improvement in areas such as cycle time, automation, production, and capital planning
• Coach and train foremen in other shifts to improve skillset and results
• Manage foremen, material handlers, and packers
Requirements:
• Strong technical understanding of the thermoforming process and equipment -7 to 10 years working experience/knowledge in plastic/rPET processing experience desired
• Experience in leading and motivating teams
• Skill in improving cycle times and diagnosing causes of equipment underperformance
• In depth manufacturing background with the desire to maintain a hands on working relationship with the production team
• Bilingual, English and Spanish
• Working knowledge of computer systems – Excel, word, PowerPoint
• Ability to perform a job that requires frequent to continuous standing, bending, lifting of up to 55 pounds, reaching, climbing & grasping as well as operating machinery that requires hearing protection
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
